The Lappland Puukko is the traditional utility knife of the Sami people. Its design has evolved over the centuries into one of the most versatile and functional knives in existence today. This is a solid all-around camp or utility knife, featuring a long, medium-width carbon steel blade lightly inscribed with the Iisakki Järvenpää signature. The more traditional puukkos have a handle like this one, with a rounded ball at the pommel. The ball shape provides comfort for palming the pommel with your other hand to apply two-handed force to the tip. The handle is made from stacked layers of birch bark, lacquered and polished smooth.

The sheath is nicely detailed with stamped and stained artwork, it contains a plastic liner to prevent the very sharp blade from slicing through, and the belt loop is attached by a metal D-ring so that it swings freely and keeps out of the way when you’re crouching or sitting.

This is quite an attractive piece and would make a great gift for any outdoors enthusiast!
